What the tour looks like?

A 45-minute car drive from Tartu brings you to Peipsiveere Nature Reserve, one of the wildest and least inhabited places in Estonia. This large and pristine wetland, a Ramsar site, is home to many endangered privacy-seeking species. This place also hides many good mushrooming spots.

Estonians are crazy about mushrooms and foraging them is an autumn tradition. Estonians know mushroom species well and many of us have our own mushrooming spots, kept secret from the neighbours.

We invite you to a guided mushroom foraging tour to the forets and bog islands of Peipsiveere. We will be hiking through pristine nature, full of signs of animal activity. This place is inhabited by symbolic animals (wolf, bear, lynx) of Estonia, as well as several privacy-seeking birds, most famously eagles. Peipsiveere is a quiet place, no artificial noises reach this remote region.

You will be accompanied by a nature guide who knows a lot about local nature, mushrooms and where to find them. Not all forest mushrooms are edible – in fact just a few of them are. Let’s get to know them!

The tour lasts 4 hours and includes a meal. At the end of the hike we will make a campfire and serve dishes made of local food, including mushrooms.

After receiving the booking fee, we can confirm your booking. You can pay the rest of the fee before your tour at the meeting point in cash only!
